Summer 2009 Lacrosse League

GENERAL LEAGUE INFORMATION

SEASON

The Girl's league will be run on Monday and Wednesday nights beginning in June. The Boy's league will be held on Tuesday and Thursday nights. The League will be run in West Windsor Township, NJ. The first game will begin in the early evening and the last game will end at dusk. Games will be comprised of two, 25 minute running time halves with a 5 minute halftime break.

COMPETITION LEVELS

There will be two levels of competition based on age. The Youth Division is for players rising to 5th through 8th grades in the fall. The High School Division is for rising high school freshman to seniors.

TEAM COMPOSITION

Already established youth, middle school or high school teams can enter the league as a unit, or individuals may join and be assigned to “at large” teams. We project each team to have between 24 and 28 players. This slightly higher than normal team size is to account for player absences due to summer vacations.

OFFICIATING AND TRAINERS

Five Star Sports will provide referees for each game. The uniformed officials will be certified by the National Lacrosse Officials Association. They will enforce all the rules of field lacrosse, which will include NO BODY CHECKING at anytime, at any level. There will also be a Red Cross Certified First Aid Provider on hand at every session that is also trained in CPR.

TEAM SUPERVISORS

Each team will have a paid team supervisor on the sidelines with them during games. These team supervisors are upper level lacrosse players with experience coaching and teaching the game of lacrosse. It will be their responsibility to insure that every player, regardless of experience, receives equitable playing time. They will also instruct league members in individual lacrosse fundamentals and basic team strategy and tactics.

UNIFORMS

Every player will receive a numbered mesh reversible tank. Players must wear their uniforms in every game.
